L202 - Oranžový vlk 2021

Oranžový vlk 2021

Unique and complex wine, created from white grapes by open vat fermentation on skins, partly also with stems. Maceration for two weeks. A balanced cuvée of Veltlínske zelené 50% (Gruener Veltliner), 30% Rizling vlašský (Welschriesling) and 20% Tramín červený (Gewurtztraminer). Veltlínske and part of Rizling Vlašský come from an old Teufelsecke vineyard, most of Rizling vlašský is then harvested from the young Jungberg vineyard. Gewurtztraminer is our prized massal selection vineyard in Teufelstal. There is also a little bit of Moravský muškát, Irsai Oliver and other aromatic white grapes, together a bit less than 0,5% of the blend.

Spontaneously fermented, unfiltered, unfined organic wine from biodynamic viticulture, without any addition of sulphites, aged in used oak and acacia barrels as well as stoneware and terracotta amphorae –  unrestrained, natural joy in the bottle!

The content of sulfur dioxide is a natural product of yeast metabolism.

Oranžový vlk has always an exciting story of origin, however, some things never change; it is always composed of Welschriesling, Veltliner, Gewurztraminer (since 2020 vintage) and Devín, it always involves some degree of maceration, it is always without added sulphites, it always ages in vessels allowing for microoxidation (barrels, amphorae) and (thankfully) is always unique, exciting and full of life!
